When my mother  visited us she bought me a bunch of this green leaves. This creeper is commonly grown at  my mom's garden..She makes this dosa very often at home .Mudakanthan Keerai/Balloon Vine leaves are very good at curing the knee and joint pain.It is also called Buddakakara/Harivay Soppu/Indravalli.Its botanical name is Cardiospermum halicababum.

You can make variety of dishes like Keerai Rasam,Keerai Thuvaiyal etc..Out of it keerai Dosai is very commonly prepared.

INGREDIENTS:

2 Cups of Idly/Dosa Batter
1 Cup of Mudakanthan Keerai/Balloon Vine leaves
1 Tsp of Cumin/Jeera
Salt as required

THIS IS HOW I MADE IT...

Wash the balloon vine leaves.
Grind the leaves with a tsp of jeera into nice paste.Add little water and grind it into smooth paste.

Add the grinded paste to the idly/dosa batter.Add salt.
Mix it well.If you find the batter to be little sticky then add some more idly batter and make it to a smooth batter.

Heat a Dosa pan and add a scoop of the green leaves batter on the hot dosa tava and make dosa

Cook the dosa on both the sides.Spray little oil on the dosa.
Serve it hot with Spicy tomato chutney or Spicy Kara Chutney

HANDY TIPS:

  • Instead of using dosa batter, you can also freshly grind raw rice, urad dhal along with the green leaves instead of mixing the green leaves mixture separately to the batter.
  • You can also add green chillies while grinding if you need the dosa to be more spicier.
